I don't know if the driver that was automatically found is the same as the generic driver you're using, but it does not seem to be the 'Universal Print Driver.' The one I have seems to be hpLaserJet 1300 PCL 5 (61.53.25.9) based on the 'About' tab of Printer Properties. I then re-connected the LJ 1300 to my XP computer and changed the port on the Win 7 computer to point to the XP share. It downloaded and installed whatever it found and finally the LJ1300 was installed.
